On behalf of our students and faculty, it is my privilege to welcome all of you to the Department of Electrical Engineering at S V College of Engineering.

We take pride in our faculty, a team of highly capable and dedicated professionals, most of whom have academic and industrial experience and degrees from leading universities of India. We provide ample opportunities to our faculty and students, through in -house trainings, workshops and trainings outside the college campus for fostering growth and development in their areas of expertise along with advanced technologies. This field of engineering and technology has a major contribution to the society which we are enjoying and witnessing in day to day life. This importance makes the Electrical and Electronics Engineering branch to stay ever green on top of all other Engineering streams

Vision of the Department

To prepare the learners globally competent, dynamic and multi talented young leaders with skills & knowledge in Electrical and Electronics Engineering field with a focus on higher education, professional practice, research and technical consultancy competence imbibing social and ethical concern.

Mission of the Department

  • To prepare the learners professionally deft and intellectually adept in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering with an excellent infrastructure, core values and qualified & experienced teaching faculty.
  • To inculcate skill, knowledge and behavior to cater to the dynamic requirements in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  • To motivate and prepare the learners for career guidance, placements and higher education with a focus on MOUs with premier institutes and industries.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES


PEO 1 -Solve challenging technological issues in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for the betterment of the living standards of the society as valuable and productive engineers.

PEO 2 - Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the existing methodologies by adapting out-of-the-box rationalised thinking.

PEO 3 - Function ethically and communicate professionally as a team member within multidisciplinary teams.

PEO 4 -Continue the process of lifelong learning to cater the dynamically changing requirements in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES


After the program students are able to:

PSO 1: -Design and develop innovative projects using the domain knowledge of control systems, power electronics, electrical machines, microprocessors and microcontrollers.

PSO 2 - Learn the constantly varying technological developments in their problem solving process.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES


  • ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE:- Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PROBLEM ANALYSIS: - Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTIONS: - Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • CONDUCT INVESTIGATIONS OF COMPLEX PROBLEMS: - Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • MODERN TOOL USAGE: - Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • THE ENGINEER AND SOCIETY: - Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY: - Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • ETHICS: - Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM WORK: - Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  • COMMUNICATION: - Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND FINANCE: - Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
  • LIFE-LONG LEARNING: - Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Electrical Engineers are in great demand globally. In recent years, from building houses to working in corporate, everywhere there is a necessity of electricity to function, offering numerous opportunities to electrical engineers. These engineers can work in:

Power plants- Thermal, Hydro, Nuclear, Gas based, captive power plants

Public Sectors of Railways, Civil Aviation, Electricity Board, Utility Companies, Municipal corporations, Electrical Inspector office, armed forces etc.

Consultancy Firms, Electrical contractors and energy audit.

Private Sectors having HT supply and involvement in Energy exchange.

Production and Manufacturing Industries including chemical, cements, ceramics, pharma, textiles etc.
